Nekron speaks! Interview by Metal Around the World
Nekron was interviewed by Christina of the ezine "Metal Around the World". Nekron speaks about RÁN, how it started, how it evolved, and what is in the future. Read it for yourself here:
And in closing, and as per custom, some Poetic Edda to ruminate over:
Sneru þær af afli
örlögþáttu,
þá er borgir braut
í Bráluni;
þær of greiddu
gullin símu
ok und mánasal
miðjan festu.
Coming up! The Lord is Slain
Hi there! Did you miss us already? You don't have to! If you liked out last release, get ready for more. The Unholy Horde of RÁN is currently working on their next track for the "Hellmetal" album called "The Lord is Slain".
Just letting you all know the RÁN freight train is still thundering along.
And as always, here's some Poetic Edda to mull over:
Seize the Crown release imminent!
Hello there, Hell-metal Hellions!
We just submitted Seize the Crown to https://distrokid.com/, so it will appear into stores starting tomorrow and later.
We're super-stoked to release this. This track has a bit of historical significance for RÁN, since it has been bouncing around in Nekron's head as early as 1985. And we think it came out great, and we hope you will enjoy it as thoroughly as we did while creating it.
New single coming up: Seize the Crown
The unholy horde is busy polishing another release, and this time it's the infernal freight train of a track which is called: 'Seize the Crown'. This is also one of the tracks for the upcoming "Hell Metal"-album.
As promised, we're doing more regular releases now, and then collating all the releases in an album in a later date. Helvíti willing, we'll release a new track every month.

New single: Black Hell
Hello to all you Hell Metal Hellions out there!
We would like to inform you that we’re still around and kicking butt. The roaring machine called RÁN was halted in it’s tracks a bit due to circumstances outside of Nekron’s control. But since the nature of the beast is to be loud, we picked ourselves up and start off the new year with a new release. This song is part of a bigger album that will be called “Hell Metal”, which will be a seminal work detailing our future direction. This is a taste of things to come!
Review of “Rock to Hell” by Mundo Rock Heavy (Chile)
Cómo estás, Cascos Pesados!
It seems our latest release "Rock to Hell" has been reviewed by a Chilean metal e-zine (in Spanish). It got quite the glowing review. Did you know you can get a copy for yourself from our infernal hell shop? It's also available from the many market stands online. Grab it!

And the RÁN freight train is off again!
Alright Heljarhelmets! It was about time you got another hellish screech from us. We're currently working on releases again and we're working on speeding up our release cycle a bit. Yes, we're still releasing albums and EPs, but with a slight twist this time. We'll release songs one by one, and later compile them into EPs and albums. This is so you won't have to wait so long for releases, and it will also shorten the feedback loop we get from you, the fan (who we consider to be the most important, after all). Right now we're working to release a new single called "Invasion". Currently, we're sketching and tinkering, but it should be out soon and into your preferred noisemaking-apparatus quite soon.
Tour wrapup. Haarlem and Best
We should have written a blog yesterday, but we just didn't get around to it. But today we should, so here it is. As has been the tradition this tour, parents of bandmembers of bands have been visiting our shows. It seemed to be Andrath's turn this time. His mom visited the Place 2B in Haarlem. Do try the burgers there, they are something else. All in all a nice gig, even though carrying all the gear into the venue was a bit of a hassle with stairs going up and down, but we managed.
Tour Diary. Day off and The Hague
Sorry for not writing a blog yesterday. It’s been a bit hectic arranging transport for all people now that the RTA crew has said goodbye. But we managed it in the end. Yesterday’s gig at Musicon was like going home again. We had a great gig, the bands were awesome as always, and the crowd was stellar.
Right now we’re packing for Haarlem. Be sure to check out our facebook for the event, and hell, maybe show up? We would appreciate that. :)
Tour diary. Hamburg
Bambi Galore was awesome. Thanks to Serpent’s gift for supporting us, and a big thank you to the crew of Bambi for the awesome venue and support. The crowd was great, heads were banging and the shows were awesome.
We’re on our way to the Netherlands now. No shows tonight. Today we drive and settle in for a bit because we have to say goodbye to the RTA crew and we travel on our own steam towards the final 3 shows.
Tour Diary. Grünau and Hamburg
We arrived at The Oberer Gasthof in Grünau, near to Chemnitz and we were greeted by the owners Thomas and Falko. We then proceeded to collectively shake the place on it’s foundations. Krulli from Exile got everyone to sign a discarded and unused China and donated it to the place. Many shots of vodka and rabarberscnapps followed with copious amounts of beer. After a somewhat chilly nights rest we wolfed down breakfast and we proceeded with a 5 hour drive to Hamburg.
Tour diary. Wroclaw and Grünau
Yes, it’s criminally early. But we’re off to sunny Germany now. Last night’s gig was sparse with visitors, but the ones that did show up got quite a show. I guess football matches seem more important than watching some great bands play, but oh well. We had fun on stage regardless, and it doesn’t matter if we’re playing for 5 or 500 people (wishful thinking, hehe).
So, next up we’ll be making the Oberer Gasthof Grünau shake on it’s foundations.
Tour diary. Warsaw and Wroclaw
So. Much. Beer. The gig at the Voodoo club turned some heads. After Incinerator cancelled, we were left without an audience and ticket sales. We also discovered that no promotion whatsoever had been done. So we decided to forego the tickets. The local barmaid did some last minute callouts and some people did show up, and we managed to blow them away in typical RÁN fashion.
Despite the setbacks, still a great night. We will definitely return.
Tour diary. Radomsko and Warsaw
We had a great night’s sleep in Radomsko (which was the unknown place in Poland eventually). We’re on our way to Warsaw now to our new accomodation and tomorrow we will play Voodoo club. Did you know the Polish roads are pretty much crap? The scenery is beautiful though, but the traffic can drive you mad (get it?). Anyway, watch our Facebook for all the shenanigans and hijinks, and we’ll see you guys in Warsaw!
Tour diary. Somewhere in Poland and Warsaw.
The Presov gig was cancelled, so we’re off for the day. The gig in Trinec was awesome. The stage and monitoring were top notch, and all the bands did some great performances. It’s amazing what bands can accomplish when everything is just right.
So now we’re roaming across the Polish countryside to a hotel (no idea where). In the meantime, we stuffed ourselves with pork.
So, after these few days off we’re off to the voodoo club in Warsaw this Sunday to shake it off it’s foundation.
Tour diary. Budapest and Konská
We’re on the road again after a short night in Budapest. A downside of touring is that you don’t always get the chance to see the sights and meet the people. But let’s hope we get the chance to enjoy the Czech republic. 500+ kilometres to drive. On to the next stage!
Oh, we also just got wind that the Presov gig was cancelled by the venue itself for reasons unknown to us. Our apologies to our Slovak fans for this.
Tour diary. Osijek and Budapest
After a nice rest in Osijek, we’re now on our way to Hungary. We visited a music shop to stock up on things (strings, picks, etc). Andrath gifted Nekron some fresh bass strings.
Looking forward to see the sights in Budapest and play S8.
We will miss Croatia and it’s many lovely sights and beers.
See you around!
Andrath
Tour diary: Osijek (day off)
After having rocked club Exit in Osijek, we have a day off. So, doing laundry and lounging around Osijek central for a bit, and taking it easy.
Tomorrow we head to Budapest to rock S8 underground. To all our Hungarian fans, see you there and then!
Hail,
Andrath
Tour diary. Županja and Osijek
Man, that rakia is wicked stuff. We had a great night at MKC Županja, and now we’re on our way to Osijek. The Croatians are truly awesome people and their hospitality is legendary.
Oh, the kitten was roaming around the apartments where we stayed.
Tour Diary. Trieste and Županja
Full Gass in Trieste was fucking amazing. The best crowd and performance so far. Thanks to Rock Rinus for taking care of us and his amazing coffee and hospitality. If you’re ever in the area, do visit his place. Tell him we sent you.
Hotel Prunk in Sežana, Slovenia was very good (and affordable) and had some amazing local beer (of which we took some with us to peruse later)
Tour Diary. Austria II and Trieste
We of RÁN would like to say that the Walhalla bar was awesome and we really appreciate how they took care of us. The evening was splendid and the hosts were great. Check out their Facebook page, I think they were shooting some video that evening too.
So, after struggling through breakfast and caffeinated beverages we’re going to head back to Italy to rock it once again!
Tour Diary. Austria
So, we rocked Milan (you’ve been great, by the way) and are now on our way to Austria. We’re going to visit the awesome Walhalla club in Spittel an der Drau.
Looking forward laying waste to the stage in typical RÁN fashion!
Rock and Rule!
Andrath
Tour Diary. Milan
So, we arrived in Milan and checked in our hotel. Still waiting for the folks from Exile and Devine Defilement to arrive. We met Kris from Rock Tour Agency in the flesh and also the driver and sound guy.
Looking forward to play The One in Milan! See you guys out there.
Hail,
Andrath
Tour Diary. Day 0
Well, the RÁN horde of chaos is meeting up today in the pittoresk Reykjavik. Last luggage checks, running through the set a last time and make sure everything is ready for transportation.
Tomorrow Rock to Hell will drop on the many streaming services and places like iTunes, Spotify, etc. So keep an eye on that.
Hail,
Andrath
Prepare to be ROCKED to HELL!
Guess what arrived?
Yes, we will be bringing them along on our European tour so you can get your hands on them. Incidentally, the digital release will be on the 27th as well, so stay tuned!
Tour Diary. Day -1
So, tomorrow the Dutch contingent of RÁN will fly to Reykjavik to perform at the Gaukurinn. In the mean time, the physical media for Rock To Hell will arrive today, and we’re all doing some last minute rehearsing to get you all the show you deserve.
To tide you over, here’s the last release of the three promo releases:
Tour Diary. Day -2
Aaand we’re still counting down. Finish up last loose ends. Practice some more. Check all gear. Also, the CDs for Rock to Hell are coming in today, so that’s pretty awesome.
To finish off, here are some stills of us practising. Enjoy.

Tour diary. Day -3
Yes, we’re counting down until our first performance. Yesterday was the last opportunity to rehearse the set and we’re glad to say that we are all set and ready to rock!
Now comes the last bits of planning and preparation for the tour. Instrument maintenance, a last clean and polish, and sorting out merch so you guys can have your mementos after we have rocked you. The new album “Rock to Hell” is being printed as we speak, and we’ll have it ready for you to obtain.
Firestorm!
Right people, the second promo video has dropped. The RÁN epic called “Firestorm” has been rendered in brutal detail in the way RÁN is supposed the sound. Angry, arrogant, brutal and most of all, like HELLJARMETALL!
So, let’s not daudle, here it is. Enjoy at unhealthy volumes, and kindly spread this like ebola. Takk fyrir :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL02MPmObbk
Crunch time!
We’re currently laying out last hands at the album, finetuning everything and doing the all-important mixing and mastering, so we can get this thing into your hands and ears.
So, we hope to do the official release when we perform at the Gaukurinn in Reykjavik where we kick off our Icelandic Metal Assault tour as well. Of course, the upcoming promos will still come as well, so stay tuned for those. So, keep an eye out for that, and as per usual, here’s some Eddic poetry for you to ponder:
Promo tracks incoming!
Since you guys have been waiting for us to release something for so long, we thought it might be apt to introduce you to some of the tracks on the upcoming Rock to Hell album. While we’re working on tracking, mixing, mastering and various complicated things, we decided to wet your appetite by releasing three promo tracks while we’re toiling to finish up the complete album. We’d like you to introduce you to our new blistering sound, we finally dubbed HELJARMETALL.
The RÁN Express is being set in motion! Tour dates known!
Our demonic servants at the Rock Tour Agency have come through beautifully and have set up RÁN, Exile and Devine Defilement up with an infernal itinerary for Eastern Europe domination. You can grab the poster below, and weĺl also set up something on our facebook page so you get alerted when we haunt in your neck of the woods.
We’ll be storming through Iceland, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia Poland, Germany and the Netherlands in a span of three weeks. We’re looking forward to seeing all of your screaming, moshing and headbanging faces from the stage.
Watch out Europe! RÁN is coming!
Hello there. It seems we’re touring Europe this autumn. We are planning to lay waste to the European peninsula together with Icelandic Behemoths Devine Defilement and Exile. More details will follow soon, but the bands are confirmed, and the fine people at Rock Tour Agency are taking care of us.
So, we hope to pillage and plunder your cities soon. Come all, and bring hearing protection because it’s going to be loud as Hell.
The time of production is nigh!
Færir björn, þar er bára brestr, undinna festa oft í Ægis kjafta úrsvöl Gymis völva. En sægnípu Sleipnir slítr úrdrifinn hvítrar Ránar, rauðum steinir unnit, brjóst ór munniThat's your bit of Eddic poetry for today, but besides all that, we would like to inform you that all the prodding and poking at the preproduction material is done, and we're gearing up for production. All scratch tracks have been laid down, mixed, inspected, modified and tweaked. This yielded a very nice roadmap of how and what we want things to sound like.
The RÁN express is in full force, and now begins the recording and re-recording of tracks, until we get what we want. We’ll also keep you updated on the coming tour, and we have had some confirmations already. Things are shaping up!
All preproduction done!
Well, after lots of hard toiling and communication, we can announce that all preproduction songs for Rock to Hell are recorded. Now comes the finetuning stage, where the evil horde that is RÁN will poke, prod, listen, change, tune, process, mince and brutalize all the stuff that has been recorded over the last few months. Finetuning the new pitdemon sound, with more more brutalizing and raw sonic landcaping, was a challenge.
And another track done!
In our journey to complete the infernal work of art that is ‘Rock to Hell’, we’re creeping closer and closer to our end goal. The almighty Andrath has stacked another track onto the pile of assorted notes that will audibly darken your surroundings soon! ‘Warbound’ has been laid down for preproduction, with the infamous new sound that we have dubbed “The Pit Demon”-sound. With growling bass guitars, brutalizing guitars, menacing drums, and of course the well-known vocal onslaught that only Nekron can produce.
!m! ONWARDS !m!
...And this would be Nekron's first, official post under the new format and website...
Much has been going on in the camp and as RÁN nears further work on the upcoming European tour, it is safe to declare that the new album (Rock to Hell CD/LP/MC) is now in the latter stages of progress. Expect a Youtubed 3 track promo release at a point when we feel it's appropriate...Now, this release serves as a sort of ‘Best of/Worst of’ and will contain the following tracks by the rule of 9 (track order may still be shuffled):
Hello Infernal World!
Hail to you and blackest greetings,
Andrath and Nekron have been slaving away between recording sessions to bring you an updated website for you so you can stay updated on the evil horde that is RÁN. Due to some fancy demonic magicks, anything we publish here will surreptitiously also appear on our social media outlets. Expect tracks, photos and merch to be on offer here soon, so you can get some worthy gear in exchange for some currency and perhaps your soul. We’re not picky.
New website, new look!
It seems that Andrath has more talents, other than scaring people shitless with his 7 stringed behemoth. He used his internet necromancy to register this domain and set up this website! Since this web thing is dynamic and easy to edit, expect some more updates from us. We’ll attempt to keep you in the loop during the production of Rock to Hell, our upcoming album. We’re in the preproduction phase at the moment, and things are sounding pretty good already!
